I have been an artist since 1980. I was trained as a painter-printmaker as well as a philosopher and art historian. I do mixed media work in a postmodern style I call "Dada Kitsch." My dissertation was a combination of philosophy, art history and visual art and dealt with the question of how we make meaning. I argue that making and interpreting are two sides of the same process.

I love reading almost anything with print on it and I make artist books that usually don’t look like books. I like to think outside the box. I am an artist-philosopher-art historian but I still haven’t decided what to be when I grow up. My dissertation dealt with the problem of how we make meaning. When I make art, I laugh and share. When I do philosophy, I ask questions and wonder. When I study history, I become more aware. When I teach, I learn. I once designed and built an adobe house. I try to include the lessons that life experiences have taught me in my classes. I recently became interested in the graphic novel as a creative art medium. At the moment, I am learning to use Photoshop to create a graphic novel based on the history of the Mona Lisa.
